Netflix, Hotstar or Amazon Prime? Which one to buy?

Did you watch the recently uploaded Sacred Games series on Netflix? Or Mirzapur series on Amazon Prime? Or Koffee with Karan episode of Hardik Pandya on Netflix which lead to a big controversy?

The Online Video Streaming Business has heated up in 2018 and has a great future with 130 Crore Indians. This article helps you with your knowledge about the streaming services and which one you should choose among them.

Why is there a sudden outburst of streaming services ?
Just a few years back when Airtel provided 1GB data for Rs. 251 for 28 days and the Data prices were high, the idea of Streaming Services was not taken well but after the invasion of Jio in Indian Telecom Industry, there was a revolution which we all witnessed the same Airtel is now giving 1GB data/day with unlimited calls for 70 days at Rs. 448, because of this the idea of Streaming Services is gaining momentum. Also the Indian Government has adopted a stricter Digital policy that banned many torrent sites.

Netflix, the most expensive costs ₹500 per month with certain restrictions. It’s premium subscriptions costs ₹650 and ₹800 er month.
Amazon Prime is super cheap and costs just ₹129 per month or ₹999 per year.
Hotstar is also somehow cheap and costs ₹199 per month or ₹999 per year.

Pricing matters to some but content matters to everyone. So let’s look at the content.

Netflix library is the largest content library on earth. It had 1,569 television shows and almost 4,010 movies according to a third party software. In India it holds very less value as it’s first Indian original series was released on 28 June last year i.e., Sacred Games. Since then it’s been expanding its horizon but still not much of Hindi Original shows or movies are available on the streaming service.
And a myth which says that if you are Hollywood TV shows fan then you got plenty of options but according to a article in Wired Indian Netflix has only 15% of the total titles available to USA and other regions.

Amazon Prime whereas has few Hindi TV shows for kids and some movies in Telugu,Tamil and Marathi. But as compared to Netflix the Indian content is fairly more. It also has good foreign TV series of HBO which are considered as best TV series ever made. It has additional benefits of Prime Music/Reading and also free or priority delivery of products which are ordered from

Hotstar is the richest in the Indian Content has a far more to offer. There are shows which are available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu , Malayalam, Bengali which covers a fair portion of India’s population. It’s very content rich. It comes with additional benefit of live International Cricket, Tennis Grandslam matches. Also the domestic Pro-Kabaddi league, Indian Super League, Ultimate Table Tennis, F1 races and the list goes on. It also has all HBO originals and every show that airs on Star Network. Most importantly, you don’t even need a subscription to view most of the content unlike Netflix and amazon prime.

Netflix has very classy & smooth interface whereas Amazon Prime and Hotstar lacks here and are not as much as good in this area. The forwarding, rewinding definitely matters to everyone.
